When we last saw our heroes the George Jetsons back in June (JUNE?! what happened to July? oh never mind) they were coming off a disappointing playoff loss. The best regular season record in team history wasn't enough to carry them to the promised land for their first ever DD title. Now they are set to build on last years success despite some looming questions, they are losing 2 key contributors from last year's playoff run. How will they cope with losing their founder and Jefe, Edgar? How will they manage with out 'Greenlight" Hart's patented infield doubles? These are just but a few of the questions that this new retooled George Jetsosn's team will have to answer. Part of management's response to show the fans the Jetsons are serious about contending again and not entering a rebuilding phase is to bring in 2 proven George Jetson veterans. Jason Abbey is returning after taking a few seasons off for a few little things, like getting Married. How will married life affect his swing? Can he return to MVJ form? We'll have to see. Randy Lillard is also returning after being gone for a year off getting S-M-R-T. How will the cold winter in Purdue effect his performance? Don't worry Randy, you don't have to worry about frostbite down here. Here are some of the other questions concerning the Season 15 George Jetsons.
Edgar: How is he going to cope with not having managerial duties while playing? I think with offloading the burden of managing he'll post career highs in his first 3 games, then not get MVJ because he won't qualify for any category.
Chip: Is he going to give up trying to not ground out to third and decide to try and hit the ball so hard it puts a hole through the third baseman? Or maybe he'll start batting lefty and start grounding out to first base.
Nick: Will he try and set a record for the highest popup ever? Or will he go for most popups in a season? We'll have to wait and see, it should be exciting.
Clem: Will he show up in high maroon socks, shiny white shorts and a maroon t-shirt this season? About as likely as Kevin NOT showing up in that gear.
Norm: How many more slides into third can Uncle Pappy take? He might have to resort to the Kevin Dries philosophy of base running, 2nd is already too far, 3rd is way too far.
DJ: Over under on base coaches flipped off this season, 7.5
Helms: Will he start dropping anvils on the other team when he's about to get out? Because his feet are already blurry and he he spins out he runs so fast just like the Roadrunner. I don't think he's utilizing his whole arsenal of ACME products.
Q: Will he get tired of all of us saying how fast he used to be and challenge us all to a 40 yards sprint and beat us running backwards? No.
Dries: After all last season complaining about hitting #2, and then getting the MVJ, how many times he complains about not hitting #2 this season? Over under: 53.5
Randy: Will he be able to pull himself away from the golf coarse to make it to enough games to qualify as the MVJ?
George: will he make it to more then 1 night this season? Since he's only going to be in town about 3 days between now and New Years.
Gilmore: How many times will he crawl to base taunting the other team? I say just a few until the league figures out his unorthodox base running style.
Abbey: After being out a few seasons, how many times will he burn the left fielder before teams remember how he can mash? Over under: 1.5 per game
Ron: The MVJ winner odd on favorite is who ever bats behind Ron, since he goes 1st to 3rd and 2nd to home no matter what, drawing more throws then anyone in the league. I'm sure Ron is thinking, "Can I bat behind myself?"
Jeremy: Will he set a new record for highest slugging percentage with fewest balls fielded by the outfield, or most throws generated by the opposing team with his base running? Even money right now.
So those are just a few of the questions to be answered this season. So come on out in force this season, fans. Come support your George Jetsons as they try to recapture some of that magic from last year and make another playoff run. It's On!
