The George Jetsons have begun their assault on season 14. Ok, maybe not a full assault, maybe more of a shoving match, but we still kicked ass. Ok, we worked out a couple of wins. But it's ON now.
The quest for 12 wins began against a tough Rebels squad that we've always played close. They led the series 3 games to 2 over the past 2 seasons. This game was no different. The Jetsons jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first and held the Rebels scoreless for 4 straight innings. The Jetsons played solid defense over those innings with Chip making a, now signature, sliding catch in the 4th inning. Over those 4 innings the Jetsons were able to increase their lead to 7-2. Then the Jetsons remembered who they were and promptly gave up 5 runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth the first two batters went down, leaving El Jefe as the last hope. He knocked a single through to get us to the top of the lineup that then hit 2 singles and a double to add 4 to the Jetsons score. With time expired the game ended 11-7.

MVJ goes to Normy for having a solid night at the plate, (3-for-4, 2B, 3B, 3 R, 3 RBI)

Next up came Bohica. The Jetsons started to hit their beer peak and jumped out on Bohica 5-0 in the first inning. Then we got lazy. The Jetsons only scored 2 runs the rest of the game. Good thing Bohica scored 0. That's right ZERO. The first Jetsons shutout since 9-28-2004. The Jetsons played awesome defense in the infield. Double plays were the name of the game with Soso and Clem taking care of it in the first and second innings. Seriously, who needs a second baseman? Also everyone who played shortstop got a chance to show their range, make good catches way in the grass, and get all three outs in the inning. Amusing note of the game was Nelson doing his best little Ichiro impersonation in the fourth inning, and hitting a double lefty!!!

Soso was awesome in the field, but his plate appearances weren't too special. Dries hit well and played hurt, but outfield action was pretty slow. MVJ goes to Clem for having an all around good game.
