George Jetsons players, former players, and fans: Here is the recap for Season 11.

The George Jetsons completed their eleventh season of play last week, and although it ended with a weak showing in the playoffs, the team got back on the winning track during the regular season (after falling to 5-7 in Season 10).

The season started at the end of May with a game against the Smashers. Despite the Jetsons winning all four games against the Smashers in the past, the two teams were developing something of a rivalry. This was largely due to the Smashers’ loud and obnoxious trash talking and their insistence that they had actually won a Season 10 game if not for scoring error on their part. The George Jetsons put all that aside and whipped them pretty good, taking a 10-2 lead into the final inning before letting them come back and making it look close. Final score: 10-9 Jetsons.

The George Jetsons proceeded to beat the Leather Dingers and Bohica to start the season 3-0. Then came their first true challenge, the Rastros. The Rastros had defeated the Jetsons six games in a row, so the Jetsons needed a win to breathe some life back into this dying rivalry. It wasn’t to be. The Rastros once again demolished the George Jetsons, this time by a score of 14-4.

After five straight weeks of rainouts, the George Jetsons returned to action on July 13 and looked very strong as they defeated Tappa Kegga Brew and Clutch Hitters handily. A good win the next week against Delta Force upped GJ’s record to 6-1 on the season heading into another game against the Smashers. Before the game, the Smashers delivered some of their best trash talking to date, complete with mock SI covers and all. Once again, the George Jetsons shrugged it off and said, “prove it on the field!” Unfortunately, they did. The Smashers took advantage of a poor performance by the GJ lineup and stole the game by a score of 10-8. After the game, they celebrated like girls and trash-talked even more...amongst themselves! At last check, the team appeared to be disintegrating...will they be back next season?

The loss against the Smashers was the beginning of a 3-game losing streak for the Jetsons. The streak included an unexpected loss against Bohica and yet another loss against the Rastros. In one of the worst offensive performances in GJ history, the Rastros won 8-2 and took a 15-3 lead in the all-time series between the supposed “rivals.”

The Jetsons bounced back and ended the season with two wins to finish 8-4. That record was good enough for third place, which was good enough to secure a seeding in the playoffs. Wait...what playoffs? That’s right...the Jetsons didn’t make the playoffs after all. You can safely ignore any record of any such playoff game, especially any indication that the Jetsons hit .222 while mustering a measly 6 hits and a single run against the Rejects. Instead, we’ll talk about a better team...the Rastros. The Rastros advanced to the final round of the playoffs for the first time ever. They made a good showing, but lost to the new Men’s DD champions, Socks.

In his farewell tour before going off and “gettin’ smart” for a year, Randy Lillard once again dominated the league while earning his fifth Most Valuable Jetson Award! Randy has been a driving force behind this team’s improvement in the last few seasons. His MVJ Award reads:

[b]INDIVIDUAL REGULAR SEASON STATS[/b]

No records were broken this season, but we got some great offensive performances as you would expect out of our big guns. Randy Lillard led the way once again in most categories. Even while batting in the 2-hole for most of the season, Randy still managed to lead the team in RBI’s. For much of the season, he was on track to break Abbey’s percentage records before falling off in the last couple of weeks. He still finished with an impressive .765 AVG and a 1.986 OPS, and he came within 1 run of the runs scored record. His new self-described patient approach at the plate also got him 6 walks, one short of the record.

It wasn’t all Randy, though. McCann, Vicker, and Dries also turned in strong performances. Chip, in fact, might have challenged Randy’s dominance in many of the categories had he not been limited to 8 games played.
